Some of you may remember that I posted a piece on the subject of rape being utilized as a tool of warfare; unfortunately, it's quite obvious that its use as a political weapon by military governments against their own citizens isn't entirely out of the ordinary, either.
I'm reposting to link to Tara C. Smith's piece in Aetiology that inspired my original piece, but I heard a news item on NPR around 5:45 CST or so on Guinea that made my skin crawl. I'm reproducing a link to a transcript of that report, but be forewarned: this is not nice stuff to hear or read, much less even think about.
Now I'm going to go off somewhere and throw up.
