This really shouldn't surprise anyone (emphasis mine):

Madison - In a move that hastens a larger showdown, a Dane County judge has struck down Gov. Scott Walker's legislation repealing most collective bargaining for public employees.

In a 33-page decision issued Thursday, Dane County Circuit Judge Maryann Sumi said she would overturn the legislation because GOP lawmakers on a committee broke the state's open meetings law in passing it March 9. The legislation limits collective bargaining to wages for all public employees in Wisconsin except for police and firefighters.

On March 18, Sumi had placed a temporary hold on the law, but Thursday's ruling voided it entirely - at least until the Supreme Court decides whether to act in the case.

"It's what we were looking for," said Dane County District Attorney Ismael Ozanne, a Democrat.

Ozanne sued to block the law after Assembly Minority Leader Peter Barca (D-Kenosha) filed a complaint saying that GOP legislative leaders had not given proper notice to the public in convening a conference committee of lawmakers from both houses to approve Walker's budget-repair bill.

I'm sure that Burgher Walker will now go and whine to the courts for redress and the Kochs for some mo' money, but he can't even keep the rationale for his union-busting in the "up" position either, so screw him.

You knew that a commentary on the Harold Camping mess was coming from James Randi, right?

It's not all that surprising that he came to a similar conclusion about this, either:

No surprise. Camping may be mildly amused at the huge number of naifs who opted to swallow this ridiculous claim of his, those who spent all their savings and pension checks to finance his madness, but he has pressed the “rationalize” key on his computer, and for the next 149 days, he’ll enjoy more media notoriety, and donations will continue to arrive from those who are still willing to troop to the abattoir singing…

It must be so nice to be an opportunist while successfully wrapping yourself in the flag of religious piety.

If you feel the need to throw up, try to miss your computer. That would be expensive. But not as expensive as this:

Robert Fitzpatrick of New York had put his money where his faith is: The 60-year-old retiree spent $140,000 -- almost everything he had -- on hundreds of billboards proclaiming the Armagedon that Camping predicted.

When it didn't come, he was standing in New York's Times Square, surrounded by jeering tourists in a drizzling rain.

"I can't tell you what I feel right now," he said. "Obviously, I haven't understood it correctly because we're still here."

Actually, the thing Fitzpatrick didn't understand correctly is that he was giving practically all of his money to either an idiot or a sociopath.

The truth hurts, but it really hurts when you're out more than a 100 grand.
