How dumb can you get in this day and age? Let's put it like this:

We live in an era in which a Presidential candidate can seriously argue that he should have the right to lock up judges who don't properly kiss his ass and actually manages to get the likes of Alberto Gonzales and Michael Mukasey - former AGs under the second Bush administration, I kid you not - to turn on him and openly call him more than a bit crazy in public, but he's not necessarily the example of Grade-A Dumbth I have in mind.

Ladies and gentlemen, meet Jules "Charlie" Manson, American:

Jules Manson, who ran for office on a Libertarian platform in the Carson race in March, called Obama a "monkey" in an online screed on the passage of the National Defense Authorization Act. The act has raised the ire of activists because it permits indefinite detention without trial for some terrorism suspects.

In a comment on the Facebook post, Manson added: "Assassinate the [president] and his monkey children." He used an obscenity followed by a racial epithet to describe the president. The post had been removed from Manson's Facebook page Tuesday, but the blog Your Black Politics captured and posted a screenshot of it, including the coarse language.

Look, I'll be fair: I don't like the current NDAA as written, either. The section that allows for indefinite detention on what can be best termed "nebulous" grounds (translation: "whatever a future representative of the Executive Branch says it means") is very, very unconstitutional at best and a future tool for a slide towards dictatorial government at worst. Thing is, I'm not the one posting certain things that almost insure you'll be getting a visit from well-muscled men in suits who have radio buds in their ears and very powerful guns in their car trunks. And judging by the aforementioned statements mentioned in my first paragraph that were made by a certain Presidential candidate who was recently called some very bad words in Iowa, I can see what the consequences of that law may end up being somewhere down the line.

We are, of course, living in interesting times (in the full, unpleasant Chinese meaning of the word "interesting"), but let's face it; Manson isn't the only failed political candidate to lose his mind like this. Actually, take away the word "failed" and you might have a bit of a precedent in terms of a guy Manson fully supports.

I'm sure that Ranger Rick didn't know what he was stepping in when he cut that now-infamous "strong" ad. These 10 parodies show you how bad it all smelled afterwards, though.
