Any parent who lets their kid die because of their retarded religious beliefs deserves to go to prison. Ugh.

Agreed. Look, while I realize that there are First Amendment problems with forcing medical care on children of fundamentalism-drugged parents, I'd rather have any *number* of specious lawsuits thrown at medical care providers than have a kid die because of some idiot belief that emergency medical care violates the tenets of your personal deity of choice. Does the kid get a say in that?

What I find weird about this is that Hauser is putatively Roman Catholic; while the Vatican has prohibitions concerning some medical procedures (I'm not Catholic and am not particularly initiating a debate on this), AFAIK chemotherapy isn't one of them.
