OK seems intent of being just as opposed to all aspects of modern science as next-door neighbor Texas is, and this bill offers up more proof of it:

The sole sponsor of the bill is Josh Brecheen (R-District 6), who announced his intention to file antievolution legislation in a column in the Durant Daily Democrat (December 19, 2010): "Renowned scientists now asserting that evolution is laden with errors are being ignored. ... Using your tax dollars to teach the unknown, without disclosing the entire scientific findings[,] is incomplete and unacceptable." In a subsequent column in the Daily Democrat (December 24, 2010), he clearly indicated that his intention was to have creationism presented as scientifically credible, writing, "I have introduced legislation requiring every publically funded Oklahoma school to teach the debate of creation vs. evolution using the known science, even that which conflicts with Darwin's religion."

Okay. Let me see if I've got this straight: most of the tenets of revealed religion (and you cannot tell me with a straight face that Brecheen isn't trying to throw red meat to fundamentalists; not unless you want me to laugh myself into an emergency room) are far more "unknown" than the scientific evidence concerning evolution, and yet Brecheen is sponsoring a bill that somehow completely ignores this little issue. How convenient. Furthermore, he actually uses the phrase "Darwin's religion" despite knowing full well that his bill would be vastly irrelevant except for the broad appeal it would have among religious demagogues Brecheen included.

Something this pathetic would almost be funny if it wasn't so dangerous.
