Normally, Kommandant B (R-Wingnut) provides a lot of unintentional comedy with her inane gibberish, but this is going too far:

Bachmann slammed Gov. Rick Perry for his 2007 executive order mandating that all sixth-grade Texas girls be required to get vaccinations against the human papillomavirus (HPV), the virus linked to cervical cancer. Bachmann said Perry’s mandate was a “government injection through executive order” and a “violation of a liberty interest.”

She charged that Perry’s order also endangered young girls who might experience negative side effects to the vaccine.

The exact phrase she used is just a bit anecdotal in nature, to say the least:

“There’s a woman who came up crying to me tonight after the debate. She said her daughter was given that vaccine,” Bachmann said on Fox News. “She told me her daughter suffered mental retardation as a result. There are very dangerous consequences.”

Bachmann repeated the allegation on the “Today Show” this morning, adding, “It’s very clear that crony capitalism could have likely been the cause, because the governor's former chief of staff was the chief lobbyist for this drug company.”

It's a pity that some people more in the know than The Kommandant is take issue with her assertion concerning mental retardation:

“The American Academy of Pediatrics would like to correct false statements made in the Republican presidential campaign that HPV vaccine is dangerous and can cause mental retardation. There is absolutely no scientific validity to this statement. Since the vaccine has been introduced, more than 35 million doses have been administered, and it has an excellent safety record… This is a life-saving vaccine that can protect girls from cervical cancer.”

The Kommandant never misses a chance to give out false or half-assed information, does she?

Too bad it's less than amusing this time around.

That does seems to be the new rule, yes. It also seems to be a rule that get more and more common in usage when _one_ wingnut candidate is making a desperate bid to fend off a suddenly more popular wingnut candidate.

If Bachmann was using solely it for the latter purpose, she's cynical beyond belief; if she actually _believes_ this shit about the HPV vaccine, she's a complete idiot.
