Okay, so it's not quite *the* Hockey Hall of Fame...

...nevertheless, I'm gratified Tony Amonte made it into the US Hockey HoF.
 
For several years after the departure of Jeremy Roenick for Parts Unknown (i.e., the Phoenix Coyotes, among others), Amonte was the Blackhawks offense. His career numbers can be seen here, and for most of the period between 1996-7 and 2001-2 he prevented a mostly bad team from being truly awful.

Reinstating a dishonest, publicity-seeking gambler = Bad Idea

Here's hoping that Phil Rogers is actually right about the rumor concerning Pete Rose being false.

I realize that Steroidgate has severely muddied the waters concerning what's acceptable in baseball, but reinstating a known gambler who repeatedly denied he gambled and then flipped only when a lucrative book contract was in the offing is just plain ridiculous.

Next thing you know, they'll be thinking of reinstating Hal Chase.

And to finish today's sports trifecta, a serious NFL question

This is not intended to be a slam against anybody who's sickened by cruelty to animals (I happen to be one of those who is), but riddle me this:

Who's worse: this guy. who ended up spending a year and a half in prison for fighting dogs, or this guy, who got into a car while he was loaded and ended up killing another human being?

Discuss. And while you're at it, consider this idiot. He only shot himself and is, paradoxically, facing a longer sentence than what the other two idiots served combined.
