Eight years later

Yeah, I temporarily changed the look of the page - for perfectly obvious reasons, of course.

I won't even try to approximate what happened on this day in 2001, but Orac posted something three years ago which shows that crackpots of any political stripe were capable of blaming the victims. In a similar vein, none of this stopped two assholes named Falwell and Robertson from blaming some people who weren't the perpetrators, either.

By the way, just to be appropriately offensive to someone reading this: the only difference between Osama bin Laden and Pat Robertson is that one is willing to kill for his bizarre religious reliefs; the other just wishes God would do it for him.

Actually, Phil Plait of Bad Astronomy fame put it a bit more civilly than I did.
