Speaking of critics...

Being the sort of annoying individual who reveres loud, obnoxious, edgy music and is an acolyte of the Stooges/MC5 Detroit-based school of protopunk aggression, this review makes me want to get my hands on a copy of Shiftless Decay (the label's actual web site is here) if I can find it at Reckless - or any other place in the Chicago metro area.
And speaking of old Michigan punk bands: I was pleasantly surprised to find out that most of the stuff recorded by Lansing's Fix had been re-released by Touch and Go a few years ago. Guitarist Craig Calvert (now of the Jan James Band) is the guy responsible for the guitar brutality on that LP, and to say that most of the watered-down major label "hardcore" bands of late could afford to learn a few lessons from him back then is an understatement.
