It turns out that the US isn't the only place elected pols are fond of using their position as a bully pulpit to spout their thumb-sucking, anti-science views: ladies and gentlemen, I give you the honorable (?) Conor Lenihan, Minister of Science for the Republic of Ireland. 

OTOH, Lenihan has tons of like-minded weirdos running around in the States, as usual: one of them, unfortunately, Teabagged her way to victory in a Delaware GOP primary (and is apparently fearful of self-pleasuring as well) and a certain Governor from the southwest who continues to be singularly clueless on the subject.

I've seen that anti-masturbation video before. I can't remember the context but it still amazes me that some people (religious wingnuts) can be so warped about sex that they get up in arms about kids wacking off. Abstinence is abstinence by god! Don't you dare touch yourself in an impure manner! Of course numerous studies have shown that abstinence education doesn't work worth a damn. Every Teabagger elected brings us closer to a government based on theocracy. Wonderful, just wonderful.

based on Christian theocracy I might add. Just like teaching "Creation Science" or "Intelligent Design" or whatever they're calling it these days. They get their knickers all in a twist when you tell them if you're going to teach biblical origins of the universe you better damn well give the same attention to every other religion. Then they just say you're perverting what they said or some such crapola, when in actuality they could care less about teaching about other religions because despite what they say it's all about pushing their fundamentalist Christian agenda. Sheesh! Got me all worked up.

Well hey, just for the sake of amusing yourself, read my latest post. The author of that book Lenihan ran away from in Ireland has more than a few bits of comedy gold up his sleeve, IMHO.
